What is the VIC Selective Entry exam?
The Victorian Selective Entry High School exam is a competitive entrance exam sat by Year 8 students applying for Year 9 entry at one of four Victorian selective schools - Melbourne High, Mac.Robertson, Nossal and Suzanne Cory. It is administered by ACER.
Is this based on the real ACER format?
Yes. All questions are designed to mirror the style, difficulty and format of the real ACER exam based on official sample materials and detailed exam reports. ACER does not release past papers.
How many mock exams are included?
3 full-length mock exams covering all 5 sections: Reasoning Reading, Reasoning Mathematics, General Ability Verbal, General Ability Quantitative and Writing.
How long does my child have access?
12 months unlimited access. Retake quizzes as many times as you like. Progress saved automatically.
Are there official past papers?
No. ACER does not release official past papers for the VIC Selective exam. Our mocks are the best available alternative, based on ACER sample questions and expert educator analysis.
Writing includes two tasks - one narrative and one persuasive piece - each approximately 15 minutes. Model responses at distinction level with examiner notes are included in Mock 1.
Approximately 1,000 places are offered across the four schools each year from around 5,700 applicants - an overall acceptance rate of about 20%. Melbourne High and Mac.Robertson are closer to 10-15%.
