ACER (Australian Council for Educational Research) creates scholarship tests used by many independent and private schools across Australia. These tests assess Reading Comprehension, Mathematics, and Written Expression.
The Higher Ability Selection Test (HAST) is used for entry into accelerated or gifted programs at selective and independent schools, typically from Year 8–11.
Scholarship tests are for private/independent school entry and financial awards, while selective tests are for government selective schools. Both test similar academic skills.
