Here's exactly what your child will face — broken down by subject, question count, time limit, and format.

01

3 SECTIONS

180 min

Written

English

Compulsory for all VCE students. Choose your stream: English, English Language, EAL (English as an Additional Language), or Literature. Section A: Analytical interpretation of a text. Section B: Comparative analysis of two texts. Section C: Analysis of argument and persuasive language. Each section requires extended written responses — strong essay technique is essential.

02

2 PAPERS PER SUBJECT

120–180 min

Written + CAS

Mathematics

Choose from Mathematical Methods, Specialist Mathematics, or General/Further Mathematics. Methods & Specialist exams have two papers: Paper 1 is technology-free (no calculator allowed, 60 min) and Paper 2 is technology-active (CAS calculator permitted, 120 min). General/Further Maths has a single 2-hour paper. Topics include calculus, probability, statistics, algebra, vectors, and data analysis depending on the subject.

03

40–80 marks

150 min

Written

Sciences

Choose from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, or Environmental Science. Each exam includes multiple question types: multiple choice (20–30 marks), short-answer questions requiring calculations or explanations, extended-response questions (5–10 marks each), and data analysis tasks based on experimental results. Physics and Chemistry heavily test mathematical problem-solving. Biology and Psychology emphasise case studies and research methodology.

04

Essays + Source analysis

120–150 min

Written

Humanities & Business

Choose from History (Revolutions), Economics, Business Management, Legal Studies, Geography, Politics, Sociology, or Philosophy. Exam formats vary by subject: History requires essay-length responses analysing revolutions and source documents. Economics and Business Management include short-answer data interpretation plus extended essays. Legal Studies combines case analysis with structured legal reasoning. Most subjects have 2–3 sections with a mix of short and extended responses.

05

Analysis + Creative

90–120 min

Written

Arts & Media

Choose from Visual Arts, Studio Arts, Media, Music Performance/Investigation, or Theatre Studies. Visual Arts and Studio Arts require analytical interpretation of artworks and creative process documentation. Media examines media texts, production, and audience analysis. Music includes aural analysis and performance evaluation. Theatre Studies involves analysis of productions, performance styles, and stagecraft. All subjects combine analytical writing with subject-specific creative or technical knowledge.

06

Problem-solving + Design

90–120 min

Written

Technology & Design

Choose from Computing (Algorithmics/Software Development), Food Technology, Systems Engineering, or Product Design & Technology. Computing exams test algorithm design, data structures, cybersecurity, and software development methodology. Food Technology covers food science, product development, and industry practices. Systems Engineering involves mechanical and electronic system analysis. Product Design tests design processes, materials science, and manufacturing methods. All include a mix of short-answer and design-based problem-solving questions.

07

Short + Extended

120 min

Written

Health & Physical Education

Choose from Health & Human Development, Physical Education, or Outdoor & Environmental Studies. Health & Human Dev covers Australia's health system, global health issues, and human development across the lifespan. Physical Education tests biomechanics, exercise physiology, skill acquisition, and sports psychology with data interpretation tasks. Outdoor & Environmental Studies examines relationships between humans and outdoor environments. All subjects combine multiple-choice, short-answer, and extended-response questions requiring case study analysis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything parents ask about this exam — answered clearly.

It's simple: if your child is in Year 11, choose a Year 11 (Units 1 & 2) pack. If they're in Year 12, choose a Year 12 (Units 3 & 4) pack. Year 12 exams count toward the ATAR, so they're the most important. If your child has time across both years, the Combo packs give you the best value.

End-of-year exams are worth up to 60% of the final study score for most subjects. The remaining 40% comes from school-assessed coursework (SACs) and tasks (SATs). Only Units 3 & 4 (Year 12) exams count toward the ATAR — Units 1 & 2 are assessed internally by your school.
We cover every major VCE subject except languages: English (English, English Language, EAL, Literature), Mathematics (Methods, Specialist, General/Further), Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, Environmental Science), Humanities & Business (History, Economics, Business Management, Legal Studies, Geography, Politics, Sociology, Philosophy), Arts & Media (Visual Arts, Studio Arts, Media, Music, Theatre Studies), Technology & Design (Computing, Software Dev, Food Tech, Systems Engineering, Product Design), and Health & PE (Health & Human Dev, Physical Education, Outdoor & Environmental Studies).
Yes — all multi-mock packs let you choose any combination of subjects. A 3-pack could be 1 English + 1 Maths Methods + 1 Chemistry, or 3 English mocks for focused practice. You choose when you activate each mock.
Maths Methods and Specialist Maths exams have two papers: Paper 1 is technology-free (no calculator), and Paper 2 is technology-active (CAS calculator allowed). Our mocks include both papers, just like the real VCAA exam.
The earlier the better. Year 11 is the ideal time to build exam technique without the pressure of ATAR-counted exams. For Year 12, we recommend starting mock practice by April–June at the latest, with intensive preparation from July onwards.
Individual packs cover one year level (Year 11 or Year 12). Combo packs bundle both years together at a significant discount — the Year 11 + 12 Combo gives you 8 mocks for $349 (saving $210), and the Mega Combo gives you 12 mocks for $449 (saving $350).
Yes. We update all mocks annually to match the current VCAA study designs and exam specifications. You'll always be practising with the most up-to-date format.
