How is ICAS different from NAPLAN?

NAPLAN is a national government assessment measuring achievement against curriculum benchmarks. ICAS is a competitive academic competition measuring performance against other students nationally and internationally. ICAS rewards top performers with medals and certificates.

Can students prepare for individual ICAS subjects?

Yes. Students can sit just English, just Maths, or any combination of the six ICAS subjects. Our mock packs cover English, Maths and Science.

When is ICAS held?

ICAS is typically held in Terms 2–3 each year. Schools must register students — parents cannot register individually. Contact your school's ICAS coordinator for exact dates.

What year levels can participate?

ICAS covers Years 2 through 10 (and equivalent levels internationally). Each year level has a corresponding paper from Introductory (Year 2) through Paper H (Year 10).

What are the ICAS award levels?

Awards are: High Distinction (top 1%), Distinction (next 9%), Credit (next 25%), Merit (next 15%), and Participation for all remaining students.
