WACE Year 11 results don't directly contribute to ATAR. Only Year 12 Units 3 & 4 results count u2014 50% school assessment and 50% SCSA external exam. But Year 11 knowledge and skills directly determine Year 12 performance.

No. WACE Year 11 is 100% internal school assessment. SCSA does not conduct external exams in Year 11. The external exam begins in Year 12.
How does Year 11 assessment work?
All Year 11 tasks are set and marked by your school according to SCSA guidelines. Task types, timing and number vary by school.
Can I change subjects after Year 11?
Possible but may require catching up on prerequisite content. Discuss with your school's Year 11/12 coordinator early if considering a change.
When should I start preparing for Year 12?
From day one of Year 11. Every lesson and assessment in Units 1 & 2 builds your Year 12 foundation.

WACE Year 11 is 100% internal u2014 same as HSC Preliminary, VCE U12 and QCE U12. In Year 12, WACE uses the same 50/50 split as HSC, while VCE varies by subject and QCE IAs are 50-75%.
