What is the NSW Selective School Test?

The NSW Selective School Test is a state-wide exam sat by Year 6 students applying to enter Year 7 at a NSW selective high school. It tests Reading, Mathematical Reasoning, Thinking Skills and Writing.

Is this based on the real NSW Selective format?

Yes. All questions are designed to match the format, style and difficulty of the real NSW Selective test. The test is delivered online and our mock mirrors this format exactly.

How many mock exams are included?

8 full-length mock exams covering Reading (45q, 40min), Mathematical Reasoning (40q, 40min), Thinking Skills (40q, 40min) and Writing (1 task, 20min).

How long does my child have access?

12 months unlimited access. Retake quizzes as many times as you like. Progress saved automatically.

Can I use this on a tablet or mobile?

Yes. Fully accessible on desktop, laptop, tablet and mobile. Practise on screen - the real NSW Selective test is computer-based.

How is Writing handled?

Writing is a guided lesson with stimulus prompt, model response at distinction level, examiner notes and the full marking criteria.

What score does my child need?

There is no fixed cut-off score. Each selective school sets its own entry threshold based on the applicant pool each year. Higher scores improve the chance of placement at a preferred school.
