What is ICAS?
ICAS is an annual academic competition taken by over one million students globally. It tests higher-order thinking in English, Mathematics, Science, Digital Technologies, Spelling Bee, Writing.
What subjects does this year level cover?
Year 6 ICAS (Paper D) covers: English: 40 questions in 45 minutes. Mathematics: 40 questions in 60 minutes. Science: 40 questions in 45 minutes. Digital Technologies: 35 questions in 35 minutes. Spelling Bee: 50 words in 40 minutes. Writing: 1 writing task in 35 minutes. All questions are multiple-choice except Writing (extended response).
How many questions per subject?

ICAS papers: Year 2=Introductory, Year 3=A, Year 4=B, Year 5=C, Year 6=D, Year 7=E, Year 8=F, Year 9=G, Year 10=H.
What are the ICAS medal bands?
High Distinction (top 1%), Distinction (top 10%), Credit (top 25%), Merit (top 50%), Participation. Each subject ranked independently.
When are ICAS exams held?
ICAS is held annually April-August. Exact dates vary by school. Contact your school coordinator.
