How is the HSC mark calculated?
Your final HSC Mathematics Extension 2 mark is 50% internal school assessment + 50% HSC external exam. The two components are combined and moderated by NESA.
What is Band 6?
Band 6 is the top performance band (90-100 marks). E4 (45-50 marks). Mathematical rigour, elegant proofs and mastery of advanced techniques are required for E4.
How important is internal assessment?
Internal assessment counts for 50% of your final HSC mark. Your rank within your school is what matters most - rank as highly as possible in every internal task.
When are HSC exams held?
HSC written examinations are typically held in October-November each year. Trial exams at your school typically occur in August-September. Check the NESA website for confirmed dates.
What is scaling?
Highest scaling of all HSC subjects. Exceptional ATAR boost for strong performers. Scaling is performed by UAC and adjusts each subject's marks based on cohort performance before ATAR is calculated.
How do I use past papers?
