Does Year 11 Maths Extension 1 count toward my ATAR?
Year 11 (Preliminary) marks do not directly count toward your ATAR, but Year 11 Extension 1 is the direct prerequisite for Year 12 Extension 1, and the algebraic fluency built here (functions, trig identities, calculus, combinatorics) underpins every Year 12 module.
Why doesn't this course have a Section III essay?
Mathematics Extension 1's real HSC and Preliminary exams have no extended-response essay section. The Yearly Exam is Section I (10 MCQ, 10 marks) and Section II (4 questions worth 15 marks each, 60 marks) - which is exactly how every Mock Pack in this course is structured.
Why is each Mock Pack's Section II question 1 always Functions, question 2 always Trigonometric Functions, and so on?
Real HSC papers interleave modules across Section II so every sitting tests the full course, not just one topic. Each of the 8 Mock Packs in this course has a genuinely unique Functions, Trigonometric Functions, Rates of Change, and Combinatorics question - 32 unique 15-mark problems in total across the course, each with a fully worked model answer.
