What is ACER Level 1?

Level 1 is for Year 7 entry — sat by Year 6 students applying for scholarships at independent schools. It assesses Written Expression, Humanities and Mathematics.

Can I apply to multiple schools?

Yes — you can nominate multiple schools during registration and your child's results will be sent to all of them.

When is the test held?

Most schools hold the test between February and June. The exact date varies by school.

How is Level 1 different from ACER Primary?

Level 1 is more advanced — it includes Humanities Comprehension (not just Reading) and Written Expression with higher marking expectations. It's designed for Year 6 students entering Year 7.

How are the writing tasks assessed?

Written Expression is marked on Ideas, Structure, Vocabulary, Cohesion, Paragraphing, Punctuation and Spelling. Two tasks in different genres are required. Our packs include model responses and rubrics for self-assessment.
