What is a VCE study score?
A study score is a number 0-50 representing your performance relative to all students studying VCE Health and Human Development. A score of 30 is approximately average; 40+ is the top 9%.
How do SACs work?
SACs (School Assessed Coursework) are internal assessment tasks completed in class under supervised conditions. They contribute to your study score alongside the VCAA external exam. Your rank in your school class is what VCAA moderates.
When are VCE exams held?
VCAA end-of-year exams are typically held in October-November. Trial exams at your school are usually in August-September. Check the VCAA website for confirmed exam dates.
What does scaling mean?
Health and Human Development scales roughly neutrally. Rewards precise use of health terminology and the ability to evaluate health interventions. ATAR is calculated by VTAC from your best 4 study scores including English, plus 10% of your next 2 best scores. All scores are scaled before ATAR calculation.
Can I use past VCAA papers?
Yes u2014 past VCE Health and Human Development exam papers, marking schemes and examiner reports are free at vcaa.vic.edu.au. Past papers are essential preparation resources.
What is the GAT?
The GAT (General Achievement Test) is sat in June by all Units 3 & 4 students. It does not directly contribute to your study score but is used to verify SAC marks across schools.
How is ATAR calculated in VCE?
Your ATAR is calculated by VTAC from your best 4 study scores (including English) plus 10% of your next best 2. Only Units 3 & 4 study scores count toward ATAR.
