VCE Biology Units 3 & 4 — 3 Mock Pack

A study score is a number 0-50 representing your performance relative to all students studying VCE Biology. A score of 30 is approximately average; 40+ is the top 9%.

SACs (School Assessed Coursework) are internal assessment tasks completed in class under supervised conditions. They contribute to your study score alongside the VCAA external exam. Your rank in your school class is what VCAA moderates.

VCAA end-of-year exams are typically held in October-November. Trial exams at your school are usually in August-September. Check the VCAA website for confirmed exam dates.

Biology scales roughly neutrally. Rewards students with strong scientific writing and precise knowledge of biological processes. ATAR is calculated by VTAC from your best 4 study scores including English, plus 10% of your next 2 best scores. All scores are scaled before ATAR calculation.

Yes u2014 past VCE Biology exam papers, marking schemes and examiner reports are free at vcaa.vic.edu.au. Past papers are essential preparation resources.

The GAT (General Achievement Test) is sat in June by all Units 3 & 4 students. It does not directly contribute to your study score but is used to verify SAC marks across schools.

Your ATAR is calculated by VTAC from your best 4 study scores (including English) plus 10% of your next best 2. Only Units 3 & 4 study scores count toward ATAR.
