Get the most out of your ICAS Year 2 preparation

Recommended Study Plan

Step 1 — Read the ICAS Guide

Work through the ICAS Guide lessons (sections 2.1–2.4) to understand the exam format, registration process and what to expect on the day. Do this before anything else.

Step 2 — Study each subject guide

Work through the English, Mathematics and Science Study Guide lessons. Each guide explains key concepts with worked examples and strategies. There are also Quick Reference sheets for revision.

Step 3 — Attempt the mock timed

Sit each subject separately, timed. English: 45 min. Mathematics: 45 min. Science: 45 min. This trains the stamina and pace the real ICAS requires.

Step 4 — Review every explanation

Read the explanation for every answer — right and wrong. ICAS tests higher-order thinking; understanding WHY an answer is correct is more valuable than the score itself.

🏅 ICAS is a competition, not a pass/fail exam. The top 1% receive High Distinction medals. Preparation significantly improves which medal band your child achieves.
🌏 This course is suitable for Year 2 students across New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania, Australian Capital Territory, Northern Territory, New Zealand, Singapore, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, India, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Philippines — all follow the same ICAS Paper Introductory format.
