⏱️ Exam Day – What to Expect
Help your child feel calm, confident and prepared
Before the Exam
- 🛏️ Prioritise sleep – at least 9 hours the night before
- 🍳 Eat a proper breakfast – a 3-hour exam demands sustained energy
- 🚗 Plan the route to the test centre in advance – do a trial run if needed
- ⏰ Arrive at least 15 minutes early – late arrivals may not be admitted
- 🚫 No last-minute cramming – confidence comes from months of preparation, not morning panic
What to Bring
- 🪪 Proof of identity if required by ACER
- 🖊️ Pencils and eraser for the written sections
- 💧 Water bottle if permitted
- 🚫 No calculators, phones, notes or dictionaries
💡 Tell your child: Read every question carefully. Attempt every question – there is no penalty for wrong answers. Check your work if time allows. Stay calm and trust your preparation.
During the Exam
- ⏱️ Manage your time carefully – do not spend too long on any single question
- 🚩 Skip hard questions and return to them if time allows
- ✅ Never leave a question blank – always make a best guess
- ✍️ For Writing – plan each task briefly before writing
- 🧘 Use the breaks to rest your eyes and stretch – do not cram between sections
