How to Improve Your VCE Accounting Score
The improvement loop
- Identify: Which question types and topics cost the most marks?
- Target: Return to the unit guide. Rewrite wrong answers from scratch without looking at the model.
- Practice: Attempt the next mock pack after two targeted revision sessions.
- Track: Record your total score each time.
Study Score Targets
| Excellent SAC performance |
Full marks or near-full marks on journal entries + 3-sentence explanations + complete financial statements |
| Good SAC performance |
Accurate journals; explanation questions address concept and scenario; statements mostly correct |
| Needs work |
Focus on journal entry rules first, then accounting concepts, then financial statements |
The students who perform best in VCE Accounting are those who practise writing journal entries and explanation answers regularly throughout the year — not just before SACs.
