Parents/guardians submit an Expression of Interest through their child’s primary school or directly to DECD. Your school will advise on the process. |
| 📅 When to apply |
Applications typically open in Term 3 of Year 5 for testing in February of Year 6. Check the DECD Ignite website annually — dates vary. |
| 🏫 School nominations |
You may be able to nominate multiple Ignite schools in your application. Check current DECD guidelines. |
| 📊 After the test |
Scores are reported by ACER. Students in the top band are invited to an interview. Final placement offers are made by each school. |
| 🔄 Re-testing |
Students who are not selected may re-apply the following year if they remain eligible. Check DECD policy. |
