⏱️ Exam Day — What to Expect
Help your child feel confident and prepared

What to Bring

  • 2B pencils (multiple — ICAS answer sheets are completed in pencil)
  • A good eraser
  • A sharpener
  • A ruler (useful for some mathematics questions)
  • A water bottle (check school policy)

On the Day — Step by Step

Before the test

Arrive early. Make sure your child has eaten and is well rested. A calm, confident mindset matters more than last-minute study.

Starting the test

Listen carefully to all instructions. Fill in the answer sheet details correctly — name, year level, school.

During the test

Work through questions steadily. If stuck, move on and come back. For MCQ, eliminate clearly wrong options first.

Time management

English (30 questions, 45 min) = ~90 seconds per question. Mathematics (40 questions, 45 min) = ~67 seconds per question. Science (35 questions, 45 min) = ~77 seconds per question.

Checking answers

If time allows, go back and check any questions you were uncertain about. Do not leave any questions unanswered — there is no penalty for guessing.

😊 Remind your child: ICAS is a competition, not a school test. There is no pass or fail. The goal is to do their personal best and learn from the experience.
