🏆 What does Band 6 look like?
Band 6 Legal Studies responses: use precise subject terminology throughout; explain mechanisms (HOW/WHY) not just facts (WHAT); integrate specific named examples naturally; directly address the NESA command word; in extended responses, make explicit justified evaluative judgements.
📊 How is my HSC mark calculated?
50% internal school assessment (moderated by NESA using your school rank) + 50% NESA external exam. Your rank within your school cohort is what matters for moderation — aim to rank as high as possible in every internal task.
📝 What is the difference between ‘describe’ and ‘explain’?
DESCRIBE = state characteristics (WHAT). EXPLAIN = cause and effect (HOW or WHY). Using describe-language when explain is required consistently caps marks at Band 3-4. Check: did you state a mechanism or reason?
